Hello Everyone,

My name is Catherine Hassett and I am founder and editor of Ballincollig Health and Wellbeing Magazine. The magazine was founded in April 2017, as I saw the need for more information on health and wellbeing services in our community.

I have lived in Ballincollig for 40 years and as an Accredited Practitioner Coach, I have been practicing in here for around 7 years; in this time, I noticed that many of my clients were not aware of the other groups, organisations, practitioners and businesses that could help them improve their mental, emotional and physical health.

I felt I also was not aware of these services either; this I felt limited my ability to provide what I call “the wider wellbeing role” I am qualified to do a certain job, but sometimes clients need help from others too, so they can achieve a holistic and more effective level of care. I also did not feel confident in referring my clients to others if I could not do it with confidence and trust.

It became apparent that to me that the public needed more information, so they could make empowered decisions about their health and wellbeing. I believe to make the right choices we need the right information; all too often we can feel we are alone or stuck but all we may need is some information about who and what can help. There is always someone who can help you, no matter what ..and they are not far away.

This is evident from the magazine; each issue is packed full of information, contributed by local, passionate and professional people; on different topics, each month. Whether you are looking for a practitioner, or want to understand a service better or educate yourself on a topic; this is the place to look.

I believe in the power of community and the power of connection. This magazine embraces both; we are community based and we connect the services with the public and the services to each other.

The print version of the magazine is distributed in the community on the first Wednesday of each month; however, I also wanted an online version available. All back copies are available here, so you never need miss out on any issue or article.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the magazine,

Please feel free to contact me or any of the contributors if you have any questions or comments,

Be well, be happy,
Catherine Hassett
