welcome

to the August issue of Ballincollig Health & Wellbeing; once again we have a jam-packed issue for you.

Thank you to the team at barefootphysio, a physio-led multidisciplinary movement clinic, based on the Model Farm Road, for being our cover feature this month. They do amazing work at their clinic with a huge focus being on babies, children and young people. Read all about the clinic, the team and their services on page 3.

Our special feature this month is Mental & Emotional Resilience; a theme that is crucial I believe or the times we live in. Modern society comes with new pressures and challenges and full of changes that were not around before. We are not all born with the coping strategies we need for different situations. If we are lucky we learn resilience in childhood and our youth, but if not it can be learned in adulthood. There are many techniques and strategies we can learn and use to help us If something is proving difficult for us in our lives, the important thing is to be able to seek support and ask for help, if we feel we cannot do it alone.

Whatever is happening in your life; you do not have to do it alone, there is always someone that can help. Very often I hear, women especially, say they could get help or do something for themselves; they either convince themselves they have no time or they believe they are being selfish. These thoughts are limiting and self sabotaging. It is vital we make the time for ourselves; and in turn we will be better for ourselves and everyone around us.

The team here are local, passionate, qualified and just waiting to help you in any way they can; and they are just a phone call or a message away.
