Welcome

To the May issue of Ballincollig Health & Wellbeing. From its conception, I never wanted it to be just a magazine; I wanted it to be a means of bringing people together. Bringing the community closer to the services in their area that can help, should they need it and bringing the practitioners together so we could in turn serve our clients even better.

While in private practice here in Ballincollig, I noticed over the years that, despite living all my life here, and working here for over 5 years, I did not know many other practitioners. Not well enough to be able to refer on my clients with confidence and trust anyway. This always bothered me; being a believer in what I call the “wider wellbeing role”, I don’t think we are doing our best job for our clients if we fail to refer them for help elsewhere when it is needed.

In doing so, we as practitioners must feel we can send our clients to somewhere they will be looked after in the best possible way. Unfortunately, as in any profession, there are some who do not operate in a professional way, or who are not properly qualified.   Thankfully most practitioners are not like this, but is important for us to be sure, as practitioners and as clients, that we are working with the right person. While creating this magazine I have met the most professional, well qualified people, who are passionate about their field and care hugely for their clients. Every month they commit to providing you with the best information they can, so that you can make the very best choices around your health and wellbeing. We are very lucky to have such great people on our doorstep.

Our issue as you will see is jam packed this month; we hope you enjoy it, get something positive from it and feel comfortable enough to contact any of our team should you need to. Remember there is always someone that can help…never feel you are on your own; because you are not. You have many, many, qualified, professional, insured, passionate, informed people and services that can help.
